Anthony was called to the bar in 2004 after articling with the law firm Bull Housser and Tupper LLP. He then worked in the same firm in their civil ligation department for 2 years before branching out on his own to set up a criminal law practice. Anthony worked as a criminal defence lawyer practicing throughout British Columbia for more than 10 years. Anthony has experience in all aspects of criminal law and procedure including bail hearings, trials, appeals and negotiating resolutions favourable to his clients. He has appeared before every level of Court in British Columbia including conducting jury trials in Supreme Court and appeals before the British Columbia Court of Appeal. Anthony has had success representing clients charged with a broad spectrum of offences from driving offences to murder and everything in between.
In 2016 Anthony accepted a position with the Legal Services Society as their Criminal Case Assessment Lawyer where he managed a variety of criminal legal aid services. In November 2018 Anthony returned to private practice with Filkow Law where he has conduct of a variety of cases including driving related offences, assault, assault causing bodily harm, sexual assault and attempted murder, to name a few.
Anthony has participated as a faculty member in various continuing legal education forums. In 2016 he wrote an article about the reliability of fingerprint evidence entitled “The Fallibility of the Infallible: A Review of Friction Analysis” which appeared in The Verdict, a magazine published by The Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia. He subsequently presented the same paper at a conference of the Trial Lawyers Association of BC in September 2016. In March 2018 Anthony was a presenter at a conference for junior lawyers on the initial advice lawyers should give to clients who are arrested on serious charges.
Since 2004 Anthony has been a volunteer board member with the Sanford Housing Society, a non profit organisation that develops, manages and maintains subsidised and below market housing for people in need.
