Paula Cooper was called to the British Columbia bar in 2019 after completing her articles with a criminal defence firm in Surrey. She maintains a focused practice in criminal law and driving-related offences.
Paula represents clients across a range of criminal and quasi-criminal matters, with an emphasis on careful file analysis, strategic advocacy, and practical resolution. She approaches each case with close attention to the evidentiary record and a clear focus on achieving efficient, effective outcomes while minimizing the broader impact on her clients.
She appears regularly in Provincial Court and has experience with both contested proceedings and negotiated resolutions. Paula works closely with her clients to ensure they understand their legal position and the options available at each stage of the process.
Paula obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta in 2017, where she competed in the Laskin Moot Court competition and volunteered with Student Legal Services in Edmonton. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Simon Fraser University and an Associate of Arts in Creative Writing from Douglas College.
Outside of her practice, Paula volunteers her time with non-profit community theatre throughout the Lower Mainland.
